When we place our value and our confidence in the hands of another, we will always be subject to feeling like a failure. Every individual has their own personal opinion and that opinion changes with their current perspective. What can be amazing today, can be horrible tomorrow by how one interprets life based upon their current mood.
Why then do we place so much value in what others think of us?
In our need to feel like we belong, we often betray ourselves for a temporary acceptance. As we look through history, we find those we admire most are the ones who held strong to their convictions, even when those convictions weren't popular. When our purpose and intent match our integrity, confidence in ourselves in gained, regardless of what others may think.
Does that mean we don't listen to differing opinions?
It is one of the character traits we admire in others. Those who hold strong to their conviction, but will also listen for differing points of view to find commonality, when most can not see anything in common. It is these type of individuals who can negotiate peace between conflicting parties.
Let's take time to reflect on our purpose and intent, to see if it aligns with our integrity. Let us take the time to analyze what areas we need to improve upon, not for the acceptance of others, but for our desire to continue with our evolution of becoming.
