Let's talk about how great of a writer we really are. We have spent a lifetime fine tuning the scripts we create in our mind. We rehearse them with deep commitment that when we step on the stage of life, we will be the finest actor the world has ever seen.
While that analogy may initially be a bit harsh to face, it is what occurs within our mind when we allow our emotional response to life to go unchecked. We become the script writer, director, and actor. When the lights go on, we step onto the stage we have created and act out the script we have written in our mind. Reflecting on the last argument we've had, we will most likely be shaking our heads.
Maybe it is time to get a new screenwriter and director. If our relationships in life are not where we want them to be, what do we need to do to improve them? If our immediate thoughts turn to what changes another can make, we have taken the wrong course and need to get back on track. We will never be able to control what another individual chooses to rehearse in their mind, or what actions they choose to take.
The only choice we control, is the changes we choose to make within ourselves. If we are not happy in a relationship, what will we do to improve our thoughts and behavior to help strengthen the relationship? If the relationship still doesn't improve, despite our best effort, is this the type of relationship we desire to be in?
From the initial thoughts, emotional response, and action taken... it always begins within.
