Co-authored with my daughter Amber Stevens and dedicated to my two special needs grandchildren.

Success is a choice. When we focus on the outcome of success, rather than the fear of failure, we choose to succeed by our actions.

Hidden Treasures - Day Twenty

Life gives us emotional experiences. It is what we can always be sure of receiving with the rising of the sun. It is a journey which test the very strength of our ability to maintain our emotional response to life. It often appears when we feel we have achieved this ability, life smiles and say, 'I think you are ready for the next level.'

We sigh, we may let a tear fall, and then we step forward and learn the next lesson in life, which challenges us to our core.

Waves of experience seem to crash down upon us at times as we learn to navigate life's stormy seas. Yet, like all sailors, if we can learn how to adjust our emotional sails, we can conquer the wind and travel the seas of life experience. It comes down to where we place our focus on the horizon of life.

Like any journey, we have to study the land and determine where we want to travel before we can chart our course. We have to have knowledge of the weather and terrain to know how we will travel and what we will need with us to reach our destination. There may be journeys which we need to increase our skills, in order to have confidence when we begin, that we will be able to finish.

Today, let's reflect upon where we are and where we desire to be. Let's begin to think more deeply on what skills are needed and how we will apply those skills to reach our destination. Let time not be a distraction, but a motivation as we understand that regardless of whether we start today or tomorrow, time will click onward with or without us.

As we continue to build upon what we have learned yesterday, lets make sure what we do today, will enhance what we are striving to build upon tomorrow.

As we reflect upon our success, daily we will explore our commitment to ourselves and what the goals we set. Taking time to write down what went wrong, what was a struggle, and what was a complete failure will help us to gain insight on how to overcome the times, when we struggle and fail to keep the commitments to ourselves.
Focusing on our internal commitments, will strengthen the external commitments we make to others.
