Unless we understand the concept of value, we will struggle with defining our value. Value is a perception. It is based on personal interpretation of what one deems valuable. Value lies in the mind of one who looks an something or someone and their thoughts create a positive or negative connotation of the formulating thoughts and words.
When we look into the mirror, into our own eyes, what do we see? What thoughts form in our mind? These thoughts will transform into emotion and words. We may think we can hide our thoughts from others, but our actions and words will eventually betray us every time.
When we value ourselves, it begins within. How we speak to ourselves, in the hidden chambers of our mind, defines the value we place on ourselves. If we struggle to find value, we will tend to associate with others, who confirm what we are saying in our mind is true.
Let's think about the last time, something hurtful was said to us. What was our emotional response? Did we get angry, because a hidden part of us agreed and we felt exposed to the truth of how we feel about ourselves? Did we get angry because we feared others believing what was said?
If we know what is being stated, has no truth and we know that those who we associate with, will also see the falsity of what is being said; why will have a strong emotional response? Wouldn't we instead, just remove ourselves from a toxic situation? Why subject ourselves to this type of toxicity?
Success occurs, when we acknowledge our value. It occurs when we surround ourselves with others, who help us be better tomorrow than we are today. It occurs when our associations help to guide our transition, but do so in a constructive, rather than a destructive manner.
We see in society how easy it is to tear another person down. Rather than look at what is being said, as offensive towards us; we need to see the words for what they are. If this is what is spewed out of their mouths, can you imagine what occurs in their mind which doesn't escape their mouths? What are their thoughts towards themselves?
Today, let's reflect on how we view our value.
